Where can I find the list of visitors to my website?
To see information about your site visitors, you need to install an extension. There are many in the Joomla directory.
How can I make a message appear on the homepage for example (12% discount on all products)?
When someone clicks on the website link, a top-down sliding message appears and then disappears when the person closes the message box or clicks any menu.
Hey Julio, I can imagine that there is a plugin for that. Check the official directory, I’m sure you can find something.
I’m currently considering various platforms to launch my magazine brand and i started with WordPress, i just couldn’t get the job done… i had issues login in to my admin portal and a host of stuffs.
I just watched some tutorials on Youtube on the Joomla framework and i find it cool.
However, there is something am not clear with, do i need to install XAMMP on my PC before running Joomla?
The tutorial guy covered that aspect, but this blog post doesn’t have it.
Hey there, you don’t need to install XAMPP to use Joomla. You can also install it on the server of a hosting provider. XAMPP and other tools are only to run your site locally on your own computer. This is a good option to work on it without needing a host or anyone else being able to see it. Once the site is finished, you can move it online. So, it’s up to you if you want to start on your own machine or go with a hosting provider right away.
Thank you so much for this article! I’m a complete newbie to website design, and your article was perfect for walking me through it. Thank you very much!
You have a really great tutorial. Thank you. I changed from WordPress to Joomla and found it quite a maze at first. Your tutorial would have helped me a lot if I had found it sooner. Now I know my way around and its making sense. I’ve decided to work on my own template. I added your link to the resources at Curlie so others needing good help can find it. https://curlie.org/Computers/Programming/Languages/PHP/Scripts/Content_Management/Joomla/FAQs%2C_Help%2C_and_Tutorials/
Thanks Laura, that’s very kind of you! Happy to hear you are diving deeper into Joomla and that it’s working out for you!
Am I the only who can’t figure anything out of Joomla? I find this CMS totally insane. I’m struggling to understand the basics though I’m not a novice in programming. It’s frustrating.
You are not alone. I am also struggling as Joomla is not intuitive.
There’s a learning curve indeed 🙂
If Joomla is too difficult, I suggest going with WordPress instead (full guide on my homepage: https://www.yunchanzhijia.cn)
Is joomla free
Yes. Joomla is completely free. You can download it here: https://downloads.joomla.org/
I want to make a resort reservation website and I’m planning to use Joomla.
I’ve minimal knowledge, but I want to learn more advance features, such as plugins and modules. Any good resources anyone?
There is some getting started training on: https://community.joomla.org/joomla-training.html

Thanks for the guide to Joomla. I have found the features in packages from places like “Site Builder” are rather limited.
Joomla is pretty difficult compared with WordPress and Site Builder, but you’ll be able to build something more robust for sure.
Is it possible to download a template for Joomla and mock it up without publishing it? Basically, could I make a “pretend” site before making it live? We manage our church’s website, which is run on Joomla and would like to spruce it up and modernize it a bit, but would like to see how everything looks before making it live. Does anyone know if that’s possible to do? Thanks!
This extensions should do the trick: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/stageit/
We currently use Joomla for our website and it has been working perfectly up until now. Basically what is happening is I am entering products and images and they are all saying published on the admin page but when I act as a customer and go to check out my website the products and images have not loaded to public. Also I am having difficulty changing my product menu colour, it is currently grey but needs to be white or red so that you can read it properly.
Any advice you can give me would be great.
Joomla has a pretty solid support forum, go ahead and ask your question there: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=706&t=872349 – I’m sure they’ll help you out.
